<p>As one grows up they are grouped by attributes like how tall they are, what they weigh, race, age etc. Socially, the individual has developed through time their own self-perception and level of self-esteem. For most of us clothing is an important part of our identity and has been found to give us a sense of wellbeing and an added quality of life. It is obvious then that clothing can have a significant impact on our self esteem and our sense of acceptance among others. It seems that the higher self esteem that one has the less clothing seems to matter, probably because they know they are at their best anyway and the clothes they choose to wear will often reflect their mood anyhow. If someone is suffering from low self esteem, promoting body image by choosing the right clothes, in addition to other practices to improve self esteem can have a beneficial effect on their confidence.</p>
<p>Self esteem clothing is important in all walks of life and many different styles suit many different tastes. What is important is that the individual feels good and confident in what they are wearing and with their body shape because one of the main aims with regard to improving ones self esteem is to improve ones confidence. Studies have shown that more confidence is achieved through wearing the right clothes so that you feel good and clothing is a major aspect of personal appearance.</p>
<p>Here are some tips to give you a boost:</p>
<p>- Express yourself through your clothes, the key is to express confidence through what you wear from head to toe that also includes your feet!</p>
<p>- Try and purvey confidence through your self esteem clothing. What is of utmost importance once you have the correct is how you behave and put yourself across to others. Self esteem clothing must help you in developing some kind of inner self worth. The more people notice how balanced, confident and interesting you are, the more they are likely to follow you.</p>
<p>- Try and dress positively, even if you are not in the mood and make sure you are happy in yourself with what you are wearing. You will then attract those of a similar state of mind and with confidence and your mood will be lifted.</p>
<p>- Have knowledge of your body type. Today there are beautiful clothes to suit all body sizes in most sizes and finding the right style to suit you can have a huge impact on your confidence. try not to fit into sizes that are too small just because it is &#8216;the trend&#8217;. If you are unsure, seek advice or search on the internet as it may be that you have been choosing wrong all along. If you are wearing the correct self esteem clothing your body type should always be complimented.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t be afraid to experiment. You might not get it right first time but clothes are much cheaper today that they ever were so splash out on something new that you can experiment with. Once you feel confident in what you are wearing the inner you will shine through and you can have fun and confidence, no matter what you wear.</p>

<p>Most people want to improve themselves in some way, whether it is to lose weight or give up smoking or increase their confidence. Self-improvement is something that we carry out over a life time, but it is a task that can require a lot of motivation. Keeping your motivation levels up and steady can be a job in itself. In order to achieve the motivation required for self-improvement, we need to look at the three keys that will help us succeed in our goals.</p>
<p>1) INSPIRATION</p>
<p>You need inspiration in order to keep you motivated and focused on improving yourself. If you are not as interested in your self-improvement as you should be, your motivation level will not high enough to be able to sustain interest for long periods. You need to take an honest look at your inspiration level. Are you excited about your self-improvement goal or does it feel more like a chore? If it feels like a chore, you are likely to grow weary and uninterested quickly because you have no inspiration or passion to sustain you during the difficult times you will encounter during the journey to self-improvement.</p>
<p>Becoming a better and fuller person should be inspiration enough but when we face setbacks and discouragement it can be difficult to maintain our motivation. The important thing is to reward the progress you make. If you are dealing with shyness, for instance, and successfully socialise with strangers at a party, you should reward yourself for working towards your goal of banishing your shyness. Treat yourself to something you like or enjoy doing &#8211; a facial or a new life-affirming book, a trip to the cinema or a wonderful dinner at a restaurant. Spoil yourself a little and do so knowing that you are worth it.</p>
<p>Try and link your self-improvement goal with something that you love doing, like a hobby you are passionate about. Using shyness once again as an example, you could try and work on banishing your shyness by joining a club or evening class that relates to your hobby. That way, you are doing something you love as well as meeting your self-improvement goals and because you are doing something you love you are more likely to continue attending the class or club rather than find excuses to stop attending and as a result weaken your motivation.</p>
<p>2) SET GOALS</p>
<p>Setting short and long-term goals is vital for anyone whose aim is self-improvement. Goals are also an excellent aid to our motivation, spurring us on towards achievement. Most importantly, if you do not set goals you will lack a definite purpose and direction. It&#8217;s impossible to be motivated if you&#8217;re not even sure about the direction you need to take. The best thing to do is to set out your goals in writing. This does not have to be at all daunting as it is nothing more than putting your aims and wishes in writing. You can view it as a private contract you have with yourself, but the difference is this contract can be changed whenever required so that it suits your needs.</p>
<p>Write down the short term goals that can be accomplished in a matter of hours, days, or weeks. For instance, if you wish to build up your confidence, start learning some positive affirmations and become conscious of your negative thinking patterns. If you suffer from anxiety, learn some breathing techniques. Include your more ambitious long term goals also, that may possibly take months or even years to complete. Do not let timescales worry you. Remember that regular, small steps will take you far. From time to time, refer to your plan to remind yourself of your aims and to fire your motivation. Written goals will make you feel more serious about and connected to your aims and it will also free you from having to work out every day what your goals are. This will save you time which you can then use on fulfilling your self-improvement goals.</p>
<p>3) NETWORKING</p>
<p>Another key to staying motivated is to network with other like-minded people and learn from those who have expertise in self-help. Networking doesn&#8217;t necessarily mean you have to meet people face to face, although this is often the best way of communicating with someone. Networking to aid your self-improvement and motivation also means joining groups on the Internet, carrying out home study courses, reading self-help books, websites and <u>blogs</u>, joining online support forums and communities. There is a wealth of different self-help communities on the Web providing worthwhile information and help. You can&#8217;t be expected to have all the information you need to understand every stage of your self-improvement so use others&#8217; expertise to help you. You&#8217;ll be able to conquer challenges you perhaps could not have done alone.</p>
<p>Networking also helps you to stop feeling alone in your goal to self-improvement. It is very comforting to find that other people are striving for the same goals as us. None of us can truly succeed without the help of others &#8211; mutual support is very motivating. <p>If you are looking out to improve yourself, it is quite important that you first chalk about the various good and bad aspects of your behavior and other traits. This can be done by a simple SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) on a personal level. Make sure that you write these down in separate lists, to get a better idea of your behavior and personal attributes. One basic aspect that you should remember is that you have to be truthful to yourself during the SWOT analysis, as not putting in the truth would be detrimental to the self improvement.</p>
<p>Accept the Issues</p>
<p>Though self improvement is quite positive and has several advantages to any individual, it is not as easy as it is made out to be. One of the biggest obstacles a person faces during self improvement is themselves. Basically, human beings find it very difficult to accept their mistakes or accept that they are fault.</p>
<p>This is an inborn aspect in the human being, which has to be shaken off for the own good of the individual. Once a person accepts that they have some traits that are negative, it becomes simple for the person to walk on the path of self improvement.</p>

<p>Many aspects in this world are changeable and reversible. One of the greatest requirements that you would need for self improvement is a positive attitude and a will to actually improve yourself. Without this, it would be simple not possible for anyone to help you out in the self improvement exercises that you may be carrying on.</p>

<p>One of the best concentration exercises I have discovered for a lecture or conversation is to simply repeat the words of the person speaking to me inside my head.</p>
<p>That simple concentration exercise keeps me from preparing my retort, and it also teaches me to listen for the speakers gifts. Taking a moment to repeat their words to myself allows me to see their strengths, and I get lots of good ideas that way.</p>
<p>If I were actually in a a counseling session, I would be preparing to ask my client if I were hearing them accurately, which is a very important part of the process of building trust, and the reflective listening process.</p>
<p>The simple act of repetition in conversation will teach me how fast my concentration wanders.</p>
<p>If you have ever tried a meditative technique using a mantra, you will know that your concentration wanders frequently, but the sound of the mantra will bring you back to the process.</p>
<p>EEG biofeedback or heart rate variability biofeedback are useful tools for concentration exercises because those tools feed back information about either brain wave frequency or time between heart beats, and as we learn from the biofeedback that we can impact those usually subconscious physiological processes, we become more confident in our concentration, and in our ability to impact it.</p>
<p>The most exciting aspect of concentration exercises is that they change the structure of the brain in a helpful way.</p>
<p>Sharon Begley wrote in her very interesting book, Train Your Mind, Change Your Brain about research which shows that Buddhist meditation can change the structure of the brain.</p>
<p>But perhaps the most interesting concentration exercises I have come across outside of meditative or contemplative traditions is the dual n back task, which I first saw discussed in Brainfit for Life a very interesting e-book written by Simon Evans, Ph.D. and Paul Burghardt,Ph.D., who are neuroscientists at the University of Michigan. Evans and Burghardt are actually writing about increasing two recently discovered capacities of the human brain, neurogenesis and neuroplasticity, or the growth of new neurons and the incredible plasticity of neurons, which means how neurons reorganize within minutes sometimes after being presented with new information.</p>
<p>It turns out if we take care of the pillars of brain fitness, which are physical activity/exercise, nutrition including antioxidants and omega 3 fatty acid, sleep, stress management, and novel learning experiences, we can keep our brain working at its most efficient.</p>
<p>The discussion of the dual n back task comes under the novel learning experience pillar, and Evans and Burghardt report that the research shows that users of dual n back demonstrate an increase in fluid intelligence, as measured by IQ tests.</p>
<p>I was very intrigued, and bought a commercial version of the dual n back program, and tried it out.</p>
<p>I found the task perfect for concentration and short term memory. While not an easy tool to get a quick feel for, it didn&#8217;t take too long until I was working effectively with the tool, which offers me brief sequences of auditory and visual feedback that I have to remember matches for back two, three, or more trials.</p>
<p>Immediately, I was aware of how fast my concentration shifted, and the dual n back kept me focused for longer and longer periods of time, and I noticed an increased awareness of attention on other tasks, so that if I wandered away, I would get back to task more quickly.</p>
<p>So it appears that research and computers are offering us wonderful tools for concentration exercises that are much more precise than the kinds that we learn using meditative or contemplative tools.</p>
<p>So given my experience with the dual n back, and my experiences with heart rate variability biofeedback tools, and EEG brainwave biofeedback tools, I decided to look into a couple of other online novel learning experience tools, one designed for Senior Brains, which was demonstrated in the IMPACT study to improve memory by exercising auditory circuits, and another a tool that you can use online whenever you want, and both of them were excellent concentration exercises, which I know recommend to clients.</p>
<p>Concentration exercises can take various forms, and one of the best and most efficient is the dual n back task you practice on your computer for about 19 days, one half hour per day.</p>

<p>We all stand to benefit from ongoing communication skills training. This is because communication skills are one of the most vitally important sets of skills a person can ever hope to acquire, in both personal and business relationships. Also, with so many forms and styles of communication possible, and so many unique personality types in any cross section of people, having good communication skills is arguable a fairly broad, ambitious goal. &nbsp;</p>
<p>The good news is, being a good communicator is a learned set of skills. We are all born with varying levels of natural talent at any given skill &#8211; but we all have the option of getting better at those skills, and that includes communication.&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Types Of Communication</strong></p>
<p>As we all know, there are many, many forms of communication taking place in modern society on a daily basis. In fact, we are constantly bombarded with communication whether we like it or not. A large percentage are marketing messages in one form or another, and they are delivered by email, mobile phones, online ads, TV commercials, telemarketers, and the list goes on.&nbsp;</p>
<p>But, what most of us think about when discussing communication skills is that of verbal communication, whether face-to-face, or in a group setting. Arguably, it is this realm of communication where peoples&#8217; relationships, careers, and lives to some extent, are truly impacted significantly by their communication skills. &nbsp;</p>
<p>Along those lines, here is some very interesting data courtesy of Wikipedia, regarding interpersonal communication:&nbsp;</p>
<ul>
<li>55% of impact is determined by <strong>body language</strong>-postures, gestures, and eye contact,</li>
<li>38% by the <strong>tone of voice</strong>, and</li>
<li> <strong>7%</strong> by the <em>content or the words</em> used in the communication process.&nbsp;</li>
</ul>
<p> So, I ask you &#8211; is there anything immediately noteworthy about the above statements? Anyone?&nbsp;
<p>Yes, you are correct: Only <strong>SEVEN percent</strong> (7%) of our interpersonal communication is impacted significantly by the, well to quote, the &quot;content of the words used in the communication process.&quot; The rest of the influence over the communication process is defined by the body language primarily, and secondarily, our tone of voice. &nbsp;</p>
<p>In other words, what you say is a lot LESS important than how you say it &#8211; and I would venture it is fair to say, a lot less important than most of us ever would have guessed &#8211; had we not taken time to be good students of communication skills by writing and reading articles like this one =) but I digress.&nbsp;</p>
<p>When you think about it, this does make sense. Have you ever met a person that, for example, is an immigrant with limited command over the primary spoken language, and yet launches a thriving, successful business or has the highest sales quota in their organization? That is a testament to this principal in action. And, this provides a clue for where to begin in the process of improving our communication skills.</p>
<p><strong>Communication Skills Training</strong></p>
<p>Knowing how important our body language and tone of voice is provides a great basis for where to begin with <a  href="http://www.presentationstoryboarding.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_new">communication skills training</a>. We are talking about things like having a posture that is relaxed and open, rather than tense, closed, or aggressive. Things like choosing to use a personable, interesting, rhythmic voice while talking or presenting, rather than droning on in an endless, monotone voice. And then there is perhaps the most simple, yet arguably most powerful nonverbal communication tool any of us could ever have; putting a smile on your face, like this:&nbsp; =)&nbsp;&nbsp; See how good that works?</p>
<p>Whether you are interested in on the job advancement and success, or improving your relationship with your spouse, investing in solid communication skills training is an investment in yourself that pays very big dividends. The good news is, there is a ton of very simple, powerful techniques you can learn to vastly improve your communication skills. It&#8217;s not rocket science, and it is not an inborn &quot;talent&quot;. It just takes some practice, and optionally, the guidance of skilled communication coach.</p>

<p>Between 2007 and 2008, in the midst of what former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan called &quot;by far&quot; the worst financial crisis in the U.S. history, American CEOs were not exactly destitute.</p>
<p>In fact, according to a survey of 2,700 public companies by independent research firm the Corporate Library, as the stock market plummeted by 37 percent and 2.6 million Americans became unemployed, median annual compensation for CEOs declined barely by a miniscule 0.08 percent. But wait, that&#8217;s not all: Three quarters of the surveyed CEOs actually received a raise, proving that executive compensation is recession-proof!</p>
<p>All that brings up a very important question as to why executives are receiving disproportionately high compensation when their companies are losing money and laying off workers? This also begs another related question: What compensation model should be applied to employees and executives to boost both long-term and short-term performance?</p>
<p>An overview of compensation models</p>
<p>Before we tackle these questions, let&#8217;s look at the three commonly used compensation models:<br /> &bull; Seniority Pay awards additional increases in pay based on how long a person has worked on the job. Seniority generally warrants a permanent increase in base pay for past time on the job.<br /> &bull; Merit Pay awards additional increases in pay based on an individual employee&#8217;s job performance. Generally speaking, it is also a permanent increase in base pay for past performance.<br /> &bull; Incentive Pay is a compensation that changes based on individual or group/company standard. Although an employee may receive base pay as with the seniority or merit system, with incentive pay it is a one-time payment that will vary from year to year, based on either individual or group performance.</p>
<p>A question you may be asking yourself is: Which of the above compensation models is most appropriate to increase a firm&#8217;s productivity?</p>
<p>Most effective approach</p>
<p>The best decision for profit-motivated organizations (as opposed to non-profits) is to implement a hybrid approach combining all three compensation models: seniority and merit pay system&#8217;s permanent increase with incentive pay based on performance.</p>
<p>How do you calculate the incentive pay? I suggest that you use permanent ratio increases &#8211; as is the case with seniority and merit pay systems &#8211; but they should only be paid out when the group/company achieves it goals. This hybrid approach has two effects:</p>
<p>&bull; It creates a permanent increase in individual pay &#8211; as long as the group reaches its goals.<br /> &bull; It encourages individual effort, while also promoting collaboration and innovation among the group because everyone is working toward a common goal and benefiting from achieving that goal.</p>
<p>Performance-based pay</p>
<p>The above approach may not retroactively modify the exorbitant payouts made to CEOs of many companies, but it does create a more equitable compensation system which fuels individual and team performance.</p>
<p>And by the way, some companies &#8211; such as BMW &#8211; have already started to tie performance to pay. According to a study conducted in March 2009 by the Institute for Corporate Productivity (i4cp), an increasing number of companies are paying closer attention to their pay-for-performance systems.</p>
<p>If this is the beginning of a trend, then there is no doubt that in the future more and more companies will adopt some type of incentive pay system for all workers in order to increase employee motivation. And increased motivation will eventually translate into improved performance.</p>

<p>Most of us will at some point or other in our lives question the use of self discipline in our life. If you look closer at this question however and see how it truly relates to you, the answer will become clear: yes, you do need self discipline in your life.</p>
<p>The answer might be clear, but the question you need to ask yourself is: Are you willing to do what it takes to work through these problems and become a well-rounded human being? Are you willing to work on the lack of discipline in your life? If the answer was a resounding &#8216;Yes!&#8217; then you don&#8217;t have to look far to find out what to do.</p>
<p>As a normal human being you will have many tasks which need to be completed each day. Some of these tasks are small and take just a few minutes of your time. Others will take a few hours to complete.</p>
<p>Depending on the task however, there is a good chance you will decide to start on that task in a few minutes time. And when those few minutes are up, you will decide to put it off yet again, and only start on it after you have finished whatever it is you are presently doing.</p>
<p>And this is where you go wrong and where lack of discipline holds you back. This leads to procrastination and a task which could have been finished without any problem or rush, and which now has to be finished very quickly.</p>
<p>The key to avoiding this type of time mismanagement is to set time limits you will keep to. These time limits do not have to be very strict in the beginning but they do need to be followed through. To help you with this you should start with small tasks to complete.</p>
<p>One tip you can use to help you start out is to use a book to record the various tasks you need to do for the morning and allocate a set time for each task. As the day progresses make sure you complete each task in the order it was listed and in that time frame. This is a good place to start your training in self discipline.</p>
<p>However you should not stop once you have completed these tasks. Continue on in the same vein for all of your other work, and you will find you are losing less time than normal, and that you are completing projects faster than you were before.</p>
<p>One good way to ensure you don&#8217;t lose hope with lost time is to make sure that the time allocated for each job is small and doable. This in turn means that when you start the job you know you can finish it.</p>
<p>An example of this would be cleaning up after a meal. You know the task has to be completed so you should set a time limit to first washing just the dishes. Once the dishes have been washed you then set a time limit for cleaning up, sweeping, taking the trash out etc.</p>
<p>By breaking down this large job into small segments you ensured that you completed the task in a minimal amount of time.</p>
<p>So you see, getting a job done doesn&#8217;t mean you spend all of your time on it. By breaking the job into doable sections you complete the task effectively and in good time. So by keeping track of your time you easily maintain your self discipline right throughout your entire day.</p>
